Real Talk: On Exhaustion

exhaustion

I am on my fifth cup of coffee today and I can honestly tell you that if I put my head down on this computer right now I could fall asleep.

I stay up until 1 am and the alarm goes off at 7 - this seems like a completely reasonable six hours of sleep, right?

Yet here I am staring down the barrel of yet another Starbucks house blend wondering why my eyeballs feel like they may actually fall right out of my head, crawl into my sunglasses case and go night night.

What the f*ck is up with exhaustion? Where does it come from? Why does it think that it can find a home in my body? GET OUT. Consider this an official eviction notice.

Yes, I know I could try sleeping more - but to be honest, my insomnia makes that a little difficult. If I don't hit the sheets exhausted my brain will spin cycles for at least 3 hours. Sometimes this works to my benefit, some of my greatest ideas happen between the hours of 3:30 and 4:30 am. Most of the time though, it just irritates me.
