Real Talk: Moments That Make You Feel Old AF
I don't know about you guys but I feel like I have just sneakily grown up (maybe not grown up... maybe just gotten old/turned into an old old woman) over the past few years. One minute it was perfectly acceptable and completely comfortable to live my life in college freshman mode and the next moment I was planning my evening around how to be asleep by 9:30pm.
What happened? How did it happen so subtly? How did I turn into an old lady without even realizing it?
What tends to happen is that I feel exactly the same... until I'm faced with something that I did when I was younger, or something that appealed to me when I was younger. It becomes apparent that somewhere along the road I changed.
Last night I was at the Logic concert in Charlotte (shout out to Logic for talking about mental health to his mostly younger fans) and I saw a couple grinding. Like reeeeeeeaaaally grinding 100% of the time, even in moments where there was no music. They were maybe 18 or 19 years old and as I looked at this stunning albeit drunk girl swinging that bootay (I feel like that description of grinding just aged me another ten years) all I could think to myself was "AREN'T HER LEGS TIRED?!"
Not a joke, that was what I thought. Followed by "seems like a lot for a public event..... who fed that child alcohol?.... what is the point of grinding anyway? does it even do anything for anyone?"
So, I guess what this means is that I have crossed over that line into old fart land where I wear work out clothes to concerts and judge children for grinding. I also enjoy sleeping and long walks on the beach that end in a glass of wine and a scenic view.
Other things that make me feel old:
- The idea of going to a club
- The idea of putting together Ikea furniture
- The idea of skipping eating dinner in favor of drinking dinner
- Forever21 clothing
The list is essentially endless. Can I just go to bed? I'm tired just thinking about it. Anyone else?
